How our guides are made
Our guides are researched and updated with official sources linked.
Editorial policy
- Fees, hours, closures and permits change. When a guide gives them, it says when the information was current and links the official source, such as Hawaiʻi State Parks.
- Ocean and trail conditions change quickly. Our guides are not safety advice. Follow lifeguards, posted signs and official warnings, and check the official notices before you go.
- A “last updated” date means the page was edited on that date. It does not mean every fact on the page was rechecked that day.
- bigisland.org may earn a commission when you book or buy through some links. This doesn’t change what we recommend.
Corrections
If something on a page is wrong or out of date, email team@bigisland.org with the page link and what needs fixing. When we correct a fact, we update the page and its “last updated” date.
